Cooked them over coals on a simple spit — good, better with a little salt — or made stew out of them (cut up, boiled for a long time with whatever vegetables were available until the meat fell off the bones — also very good). Also boiled one with some salt in the water once, nothing else — made kind of a broth with the meat. Like your post.
