Connectivity is the key. As with all open systems there can be abuse, but there are many safeguards in place. Facebook postings most often provide entertainment, but during times of crisis it can be a life-line. During the Katrina Hurricane and Japan’s recent disaster, Facebook provided vital connections for countless people who were dislocated and separated from family and loved ones. It can also provide links to vital sources of information.
