BSA 2009 Wilkes Spring Camporee

I just returned from a great weekend at the 2009 Wilkes Spring Camporee at Kerr Scott Reservoir where Boy Scouts of America troops gathered from the Wilkes and Blue Ridge District. The theme of this Camporee was “Wilderness Survival” and I was invited to participate as an instructor for two classes – Firecraft, and Emergency shelters. Other classes offered were Orienteering and Emergency First-Aid. The scouts saw demonstrations in the morning, then had opportunities to test those skills in a supervised competition in the afternoon.

Many photographs were taken, and as these become available from various photographers, I will be happy to post some. I met many wonderful people and established new friendships. This was a great way to help the next generation become prepared.
